Peterborough Butterfly Run

Registration is open for the 2023 Peterborough Butterfly Run. 

Note that all advance race registration will close at noon on Thursday April 27th.  Registration will then happen in person on April 30th between 9am and 10:30am.  It is strongly encouraged that you register before the race.

All donations made of $20 or more will receive a Charitable Tax Receipt from GPHSF, Your Family Health Team Foundation.  This applies to donations only.  No receipts will be issued for race registration and shirt or buff purchases.

This year we are offering two ways to participate in the Peterborough Butterfly Run.

1. We are excited to return to an in-person run! Join us April 30th in Millennium Park Peterborough for our first live run in 4 years.  The run will include the FREE Memorial Walk, 1K Kids Fun Run and our traditional 5K Run/Walk from Millennium Park into East City.
2. If you are unable to join us for the in-person event, but would still like to support, you can register for the 5K Virtual Butterfly Run. You’ll receive a race shirt, race kit (including medal) and our gratitude for your support.

As always, the purpose of the Peterborough Butterfly Run is to raise awareness and funds to support families and individuals who have experienced loss during pregnancy, the loss of a child, or infertility.

Race Shirts, Kit Pick Up and Deadlines

Participants who register by April 7th will be able to select their shirt size and ensure availability by April 30th for race kit pick up. As in past years, all registered participants in the 5km walk/run will receive a race kit that includes a t-shirt, a 2023 race medal, a customizable race bib that can be personalized with a loved one’s name or other special message, and the opportunity to include a name on the memorial banner. Cost is $45 plus applicable fees. Additional adult and children’s sized race shirts and buffs can be also purchased online at the registration site. 

Race kit pick up will be held on April 29th (Location TBD, in Peterborough).  For those who register after April 7th, only medals and bibs are guaranteed to be available on April 29/30th, and an additional pick up date for shirts will be held in late May or early June. Race day pick up will be available, but participants are strongly encouraged to pick up their kit on April 29 to ensure they are at the start line on time on race day.

It's Your Race Mobile App can be used to train, track your distance and run time. It will easily connect to upload your run results.

Online registration will be available until 12pm April 27th, 2023.   In person registration is also available at Runner’s Life 174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough, ON

Registration will be available on the day of the event, however participants are strongly encouraged to register in advance to ensure they are at the start line on time on race day.

Fundraising

Participants can collect donations online through ITS Your Race!   As in past years, prizes will be awarded to top individual fundraisers, and top kid fundraisers.  Prizes will be awarded based on online fundraising totals as of 11:59PM on April 29, 2023.

Funds raised to date have been used to implement a number of community initiatives including:

• specialized education for health service providers in perinatal bereavement care,
• lending libraries where community members can borrow books on pregnancy loss, child loss and infertility free of charge from a number of locations in Peterborough, and
• bereavement kits containing comfort items, legacy items and grief acknowledgement items for families and individuals who experience pregnancy or infant loss.
